Building Ballplayers, Creating Opportunities for All

Coach Pitch Division

Coach Pitch is the next step after Tee Ball, introducing live pitching from a coach to help players build confidence at the plate while continuing to learn the fundamentals of baseball in a fun, supportive environment.

đź“… About the Division

  • Typical Ages: 6–8 (League Age determined as of August 31, 2026)
  • Season Length: Spring and Fall
  • Session Length: Games and practices typically run 60–75 minutes
  • Gameplay: Coaches pitch to their own players to encourage contact and confidence
  • Focus: Building skills in throwing, catching, fielding, hitting, and teamwork

👨‍👩‍👧 Parent Expectations

Parent participation is essential for keeping practices and games safe, organized, and fun. Baseball knowledge is not required — there’s always a role for everyone!

  • Assist coaches with warm-ups or drills
  • Help manage the dugout and keep players focused between innings
  • Guide base runners and encourage players during games
  • Provide positive reinforcement and enthusiasm for all players

🗓️ Schedules & Communication

Schedules are created by the team coaches and depend on their availability, field permits, and when teams are formed. Once teams are set, families must download the GameChanger app for all team communication, practice updates, and game schedules.

🧰 Equipment Checklist

  • Glove (proper fit)
  • Batting helmet
  • USA Baseball-approved bat
  • Cleats recommended (no metal)
  • Optional: fielder’s mask for infielders, batting gloves, water bottle

đź‘• Uniforms

Families must order jerseys through our approved vendor. Each player will need two jerseys — a White Home Jersey and a Navy Blue Away Jersey — featuring the player’s name (first or last) and chosen number. The same name and number will appear on both jerseys.

Numbers are first come, first serve! If your player has a favorite number, please order early to secure it.

The league provides baseball pants and navy socks if needed — quantities are limited and available upon request.

♻️ Keep & Reuse Jerseys

Players can reuse their jerseys in future seasons as long as they fit and remain in good condition. This helps reduce repeat jersey purchases and keeps costs manageable for families.

Coach Pitch Frequently Asked Questions

Who pitches in Coach Pitch?

A coach from the batting team pitches to their own players, focusing on helping each player make contact with the ball. Pitching distance and speed may vary slightly depending on age and skill level.

How long are games and how many innings are played?

Games and practices typically last 60–75 minutes. There is no strict inning limit — the number of innings completed depends on player pace and experience. As the season progresses, teams usually play more innings per game.

Are outs recorded and do players rotate positions?

Yes, defensive outs are introduced at this level. Coaches emphasize learning the rules, proper fielding technique, and teamwork over competition. Players will rotate through different fielding positions throughout the season to develop their skills.

What if my player struggles to hit coach-pitched balls?

Coaches will adjust pitch speed, location, or distance to build player confidence. If a player continues to struggle, the coach may use a batting tee temporarily to ensure everyone experiences success at the plate.

How often are games and practices held?

Typically, each team will have one weekday practice and one weekend game per week. The schedule depends on coach availability, field permits, and the number of teams in the division.

When will I receive the schedule?

Schedules are finalized after team formation and coach assignments. Once your team is set, families must download the GameChanger app for all updates, communication, practice reminders, and game schedules.

Do boys and girls play together?

Yes! Coach Pitch is a co-ed division, and all players are encouraged to develop skills together while having fun and supporting one another.

What equipment does my player need?

Each player should have a glove, batting helmet, and a USA Baseball–approved bat. Cleats are recommended (no metal). Optional equipment includes batting gloves and a fielder’s mask for infielders.

What uniforms are required?

Families must purchase two jerseys — a White Home Jersey and a Navy Blue Away Jersey — with the player’s name and chosen number. The league provides baseball pants and navy socks if needed. Jerseys can be reused each season as long as they remain in good condition.

What happens if a game is rained out?

Coaches will communicate cancellations via the GameChanger app. Make-up games will be scheduled when possible, depending on field availability.

How can parents volunteer?

Parents can volunteer as assistant coaches, dugout helpers, or team coordinators. No baseball experience is required — just a willingness to help make the season fun and safe for all players.
